Byron Katie and her "work" - the way to peace, happiness and fulfillment
author of the article is Artur Jan Milicz
About Byron Katie (Byron Kathleen Reid) I first heard from less than 3 months. Waldemar - my old friend told me to test it simple therapy, which, he said, effectively, quickly and permanently frees us from mental suffering, internal pain, worries, worries, anxieties. About Byron Katie also mentioned Bruce Jacobs (Bir Krishna das Goswami) - Communications empathic my teacher at a workshop in which I participated. It all took place in July 2008 in Croatia.
At the moment I'm behind him read her two books that have appeared previously in the Polish language "Joy Every Day" (Byron Katie and Stephen Mitchell) and "Lies of Love" (Byron Katie and Michael Katz). Also watched lots of video clips available on the web (just type / Byron Katie / to search on youtube.com), in which she demonstrates and helps others perform "work" (The Work) - is the name of her therapy.
I have to admit that the last two months been using "work" very often. Thoughts, distress, suffering, which I sprawiały pain bothered me, and biting, returning regularly over many months or even years just evaporated, vanished, and with them vanished all the tension, stress, anxiety, which was associated with that. Personally, I'm very impressed, "Labor." Have not yet met any technique or therapy that would be more simple and more effective in maintaining my own mind in a durable peace and quiet, inner fulfillment and happiness.
"For those who defeated the mind, the mind is best friend, but who are not successful, this will be the greatest mind of his own enemy. "Bhagavad Gita 6.6
Now I use" work "each day, often without even thinking about that already use it. Every time when my mind there is any thought, which is trying to inject me though small or large dose of pain and suffering, I immediately ask myself four questions - "Is this thought true? Are you sure it is true? What I experience when I consider it to be true? How I would feel not having this thought. " Usually this helps and is sufficient.
"Because the mind is restless, rebellious, stubborn and very strong, with Krishna, beat it seems to me to be more difficult than the art of harnessing the wind." Bhagavad Gita 6.34
Occasionally, despite carrying the suffering of thought contesting with 4 of these questions still do not experience peace - after all, the mind can sometimes be like a raging tornado. In this case, going thoroughly, step by step through the process of "Labour" - and looks like this:
-------------------------- Step 1: Define the thought which causes pain
----------- ---------------
useful for that may be of the following questions, which must respond in writing without beating about the bush, pouring on a piece of everything that comes to mind.
1) From whose account you're angry, confused, sad, desperate, and why? What I do not like this person?
2) What would you like to have changed in this person? What do you want to do?
3) What is person should or should not do, think, feel, or what to be or not to be? What would you give her advice?
4) Do you need something from this person? What would make you happy? (Pretend it is your birthday and you can get anything you want. Take the opportunity!)
5) What do you think about this person? Make a list (do not try to be nice, reasonable, polite)
6) What do you want to experience again when it comes to this person?
--------------------------
Step 2: Challenging the mind which causes pain.
--------------------------
Responding to questions from Step 1 should "imprison" already at least one piece of paper, some dozen or so thoughts that make us the pain (eg Zenek is not worthy of trust. Zenek should not have to tell your friends about my plans, he should not have to issue me the wind, etc ...). Now, on each one of these thoughts dwell a little longer to treat it with a simple analysis. At first sight so we thought, and we ask the following four Questions:
1) Is it true?
truth is a fact. Truth is lacking observation assessment. The truth is all that is happening now. Rain falls, regardless of whether I like it or not. "There should fall" is just a thought. Without the "should" or "should not" we can see reality for what it is.
2) Can I have (I have) absolutely sure that's true?
If the answer to question 1 was "not" go straight to Question No. 3 If the answer was 'yes' to stop here to reflect deeply "Can we be absolutely sure that's true?". Instead of other people's opinions, or what we have been taught, we try to listen to the inner self and find his own answer.
3) How do I feel and how I react when I believe that this thought is true?
This question helps us to see the inner cause and effect. We recognize that when we believe in a certain thought occurs discomfort, discomfort, perhaps even anxiety, or panika…
--------------------------
Etap 3: odwrócenie pierwotnej thoughts
--------------------------
Here are three possible reversal of our typical thinking of Step 1: "not worthy Zenek of confidence. "
1) Zenek is worthy of trust.
2) I am not worthy of trust.
3) I am worthy of trust.
All the answers to questions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Step 1 odwróceniom surrender, as shown in the example above.
reversal response to Question No. 6 from Step 1 is different from the others. "I do not want to ..." replaces the the "happy ..." and "I can not wait ...." For example: "I do not want me to Zenek issued to the wind" to replace "We will experience how to re-issue Zenek me to the wind" and "I can not wait to once again issue Zenek me to the wind."
This reversal of the idea is to fully embrace the entire mind and life without fear, and be open to reality. It is a willingness to welcome all the possible thoughts and experiences with open arms.
--------------------------
Step 4: Confirmation of the authenticity of the reversal
---------- ----------------
Now our task is to get out of our memory for three reasons, or three facts, which confirm the authenticity of each of the inversions of the original thought. This is not to blame here is yourself, it's about to discover an alternative that can give us a sense of peace.
Examples
1) Zenek is worthy of trust.
- because so many times helped me when I asked him about it
- He cared for his mother when she was confined to bed
- of which I gave last year proved to be very helpful for me
2) I am not worthy of trust.
- in the past, many times I've lied but I was not always this przyłapywany
- it happened that I had "a loose tongue" and not kept secret entrusted to me
- sometimes criticized others and gossip about them
3) I am worthy of trust.
- I try to speak the whole truth and is not afraid of
- undertake the obligations when I do my best to fill them
- do not give up easily and does not discourage the obstacles and setbacks on the way to the goal.
--------------------------
Step 5 Return to Step 2
--------------------------
When proceed with the first order printed during Stage 1 for Steps 2, 3 and 4, the next sight we thought printed during Stage 1 and begin a new round. We repeat this process until you have exhausted the whole subject, causing pain all contests mind and achieve balance and peace.

I urge everyone to use "work". It really works.
If you encounter any difficulties in implementing its "work" and would like to receive support, with great pleasure that I can help you in this process. Just tell me about it.
